State of the Environment Reports

Last modified: February 19, 2009 - 10:08 AM

Under the Local Government Act, Councils are required to prepare a local State of the Environment Report (SOE). This report provides a summary of the attributes of the local environment and human impacts on the environment and the activities being undertaken to protect and rehabilitate it.

On a four yearly basis a comprehensive report is prepared outlining in detail environmental   impacts and management associated with the eight categories of

Land,  Air, Water,  Biodiversity,  Waste,  Noise,  Aboriginal Heritage, Non-Aboriginal Heritage.

Every other year a supplementary report is prepared which presents trends on the eight categories and any arising environmental impacts.

Past Council SOE Reports are downloadable.
