Reconstruction of Old South Road in BowralLast modified: October 21, 2009 - 7:49 AM
Work will commence Monday 26 October 2009 on the reconstruction of Old South Road between Derby Street and Sheaffe Street. This work is scheduled to take 3 weeks, weather permitting, and is being funded from the Roads to Recovery Program at an estimated cost of $350,000. To allow the works to proceed safely and with the minimum of disruption, Old South Road will be closed to through traffic between Derby Street and Sheaffe Street from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, for the duration of the work. Through traffic will be detoured via Derby, Purcell and Sheaffe Streets. No access will be available to Old South Road from Thompson or Price Streets. Residents on the closed section of Old South Road will still be allowed access, however they are advised to check with the workers on site as driveways may be blocked for periods during reconstruction. When using the closed section of road, residents are urged to exercise caution as heavy machinery and trucks will be operating along the road. Work will involve excavating the existing pavement to a depth of 300mm, construction of a 250mm slag pavement and placing a primer seal. The final 50mm asphalt wearing surface will be laid during December. Where required, short sections of kerb and gutter will be replaced as part of the work. Enquiries regarding this work can be directed to the Project Manager, Darren James, in Council's Technical Services Division on (02) 4868 0804. Contact details |
