Liquid Trade Waste Information

Last modified: November 4, 2009 - 3:31 PM

Council needs to ensure that wastewater from residential and commercial/industrial premises can be safely transported, treated and disposed of in an environmentally sustainable way.

Liquid Trade Waste is the term used to describe liquid wastes discharged to the sewer and containing trade or factory wastes or chemical or other impurities from any business, trade or manufacturing premises, other than domestic sewage, stormwater or unpolluted water.

Liquid trade waste could be wastewater from any one of a number of different activities, for example, operating a dishwashing machine, preparing vegetables in a hotel kitchen sink or degreasing a motor vehicle engine.
